The Newly established Institute of Legislation and Legal Policy under the President of Uzbekistan executes the following tasks:
- Carries out scientific, information and analytical support for the activities of the President of Uzbekistan in the formation and implementation of legal policy, as well as the development of proposals for improving the legal support of reforms carried out in the country in close cooperation with departments of the Administration of the President, legislative, executive and judicial authorities;
- Monitors the formation and implementation of programs for the development and submission of draft laws to the parliament, the passage of bills in the chambers of the Oliy Majlis at all stages of their consideration and adoption, and also prepares reasonable expert assessments and opinions on draft legislative acts submitted to the Administration of the President of Uzbekistan on the basis of a comprehensive assessment of their compliance with the state legal policy, as well as the impact on the course of socio-economic, socio-political reforms;
- Monitors the implementation and evaluates the regulatory impact of legislative acts, and develops proposals for their improvement;
- Studies the activities of the subjects of the law of legislative initiative in the field of analyzing the problems of law enforcement practice and developing proposals for improving legislation;
The institute is tasked with conducting practical research in the following areas:
- research the legal problems of improving the state management system in the context of administrative reforms;
- development of political and legal priorities of constitutional reforms and mechanisms of their implementation (state administration, development of civil society);
- introduction of the "smart regulation" project by optimizing the regulatory impact assessment system at the stage of development and implementation of regulatory legal documents;
- research the organizational and legal problems of fighting corruption.
