Uzbekistan will start auditing ministries, khokimiyats, and other state bodies on gender equality policy at workplaces. This was reported by the "Huquqiy axborot" Telegram channel of the Ministry of Justice.
The amendments and additions on "On guarantees of equal rights and opportunities for women and men" stipulate conducting a gender audit - study and assessment of the state of compliance with the legislative requirements on guarantees of equal rights and opportunities for women and men in the activities of state bodies and organizations, including the implementation of personnel policy.
The main tasks of a gender audit are:
- to study the ratio of the number of women and men in state bodies and organizations;
- to study the state of state bodies and organizations organizing their activities based on a comprehensive approach to gender;
- assessment of the state of implementation of legislation in the field of equal rights and opportunities for women and men;
- developing proposals to ensure equal rights and opportunities for women and men.
According to the approved three-year plan, the gender audit is conducted by the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan within the framework of public control in state bodies and organizations.
