US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has welcomed Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov in Washington ahead of the Strategic Partnership dialogue.
‘It is a very good and important opportunity for the two of us to compare notes on the many challenges that we're facing together. I reiterate, as always, the commitment of the United States to the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of Uzbekistan. I really want to applaud Uzbekistan for reaching the border demarcation agreement with Kyrgyzstan; I think it sends a powerful signal to many in the region and beyond about the importance of possibilities for diplomacy for resolving these issues, and also appreciate the work that's been done on reforms, including religious freedom and forced labor. And of course, we have a bunch to discuss, including with regard to Afghanistan’. Antony Blinked noted.
In his turn, Foreign Minister Vladimir thanked Secretary Blinken for the warm welcome of Uzbekistan’s delegation to the State Department and stressed that this year, the two counties are celebrating the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties and 20 years of strategic partnership.
‘Over the years, our cooperation has grown substantially across all areas of our bilateral and regional cooperation within the C5+1 format. We are appreciating the United States administration continued support for President is based on reform agenda aimed at ensuring good governance, rule of law, and human rights, as well as maintaining peace and advancing sustainable development in Central Asia. We are looking forward to continuing our productive discussion today, and the Strategic Partnership Dialogue tomorrow for our shared priorities for expanding bilateral relations in areas of trade and investment, science and technology, education, and human capacity building’, Foreign Minister concluded.
Uzbekistan’s delegation chaired by Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov is on a visit to the USA to participate in the second meeting of the Strategic Partnership Dialogue between the two countries. The first meeting involving the USA and Uzbekistan was held on December 13, 2021.
