According to the press service of the Ministry of Energy, the new gas-piston thermal power plant, in Khavos district of Syrdarya region with a capacity of 220 MW, started transmitting power to the unified electricity grid of Uzbekistan on November 20.
This power plant, built by the Turkish company Cengiz Enerji, produces 1.7 billion kWh of electricity per year.
Due to the high efficiency of the devices installed at the station, 150 million cubic meters of natural gas is saved per year which enables the production of an additional 685 million kWh of electricity.
The construction of this TPP started in the spring. On March 29, 2022, the presidents of Uzbekistan and Turkey launched the construction of the plant.
