Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade has held talks with the Freeport of Ventspils representatives and the delegation of the adjacent Free Economic Zone on measures aimed at expanding mutual trade and increasing the volume of transit cargo to the European Union, including through the GSP+ General System of Preferences, Dunyo reports.
As part of the talks, it is envisaged to produce high-value-added goods and rent the port’s terminal, whereas the Free Economic Zone would help increase exports to the EU market. Following the talks, the parties expressed mutual interest in continuing active cooperation to reach practical results and agreements.
The Freeport of Ventspils is an industrial center of European importance providing port services.
