On November 3, Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved the proposals for the development of personnel training and scientific research in physical education and sports, the Uzbek President's press service reports.
Starting from the 2023-2024 academic year, educational programs will be formed according to the programs of leading foreign universities.
5 bachelor's courses will be replaced with 2 master's specialities involving local and foreign experts in the training process.
A state scholarship named after Pahlavon Mahmoud will be introduced to encourage students. Talented graduates are awarded the status of sports referee and second-class trainer.
The Ministry of Sport will be in charge of increasing the scientific potential of the University of Physical Education and Sports to 45%, increasing the effectiveness of professors and teachers, and introducing new developments and technologies.
The Institute of Physical Education and Sports Scientific Research is assigned new tasks such as conducting research on sports biomechanics, physiology, pharmacology and genetics, transferring and commercializing the results of scientific and innovative activities and implementing start-up projects.
It is also envisaged supporting and increasing the effectiveness of scientific research, directing talented youth to foreign universities to defend the degree of doctor of philosophy (PhD).
After the Asian Games, the Ministry of Sports Development, sports federations and the State Sports Academy of Uzbekistan will be established at an Olympic town which is being built in the Yashnabad district of Tashkent.
