October 10. The Cooperative Republic of Guyana has become the 142nd country to establish diplomatic relations with Uzbekistan after the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN Bakhtiyor Ibragimov and the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Guyana to the UN Caroline Rodriguez Birkett signed a joint communique in New York.
The parties confirmed that they are interested in strengthening joint cooperation within the framework of international organizations, including the UN and its specialized institutions. An agreement was reached to continue bilateral relations in search of mutually beneficial areas of cooperation.
The signing of the document was an important step towards expanding cooperation between Uzbekistan and South American countries.
