On August 10, 2022, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Vladimir Norov, held online talks with Armida Alisjabana, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and Pacific.
Alisjabana expressed her gratitude for Uzbekistan's active participation in trade and economic cooperation in the Central Asian region, creation of new interregional transport corridors, strengthening of relations with South Asia and other regions, stressing the efforts of the republic to include Afghanistan in the regional economic processes.
Parties paid special attention to Mirziyoyev’s initiative to establish a regional centre for the development of interdependence of transport and communications in Tashkent under the auspices of the UN.
Executive Secretary also confirmed her participation in the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which will be held in Samarkand in September of this year where it is planned to sign a memorandum on cooperation between the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific and the SCO.
