The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Russia warned compatriots not to form military battalions in foreign countries or participate in military operations.
"The diplomatic mission informs that according to Article 154 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, illegal participation in armed conflicts or military operations on the territory of a foreign country is considered a crime which may lead to 10 years of imprisonment.
The Uzbek embassy warns that people who breach the above-mentioned law will be held liable without exception," the message of the embassy reads.
The Foreign Labor Migration Agency also responded to the situation and asked citizens of Uzbekistan not to follow such calls, not to go to conflict areas and not to participate in military operations.
