On July 29, Shavkat Mirziyoyev paid a visit to the "Astrum" Academy, IT park, in the Upper Chirchik district of the Tashkent region, the president's press secretary reports.
"Today, I came here to hold a meeting with the young people and senior specialists in the IT sphere, which is very important for us. I believe that we will find the solutions to the issues which will give great impetus and motivation to the youth of Uzbekistan in the IT sphere," the head of state said.
"We have started major reforms to gain a strong position in this market. In the last five years, 2 billion dollars, including $700 million of direct investments, have been channelled into this industry. Three years ago, we set up IT parks and introduced a special tax regime for them," the president noted.
IT services are rapidly developing in the world with a growth rate of 10 per cent per year reaching 4.3 trillion dollars this year.
