The leading state steel mill of Uzbekistan "Ozmetkobinat" will start exporting products to the European Union market, This was reported by Argusmedia.com
The manufacturer opened a sales office in Vilnius, Lithuania. Now it aims to sell up to 40,000 tons of rebar and wire rod with a diameter of 10-25 mm.
Shipments will be available through the port of Klaipėda, Lithuania, along with shipping by truck and rail.
"We are aiming to become a stable and long-time partner for the European market. As the mill is the largest steel producer in Central Asia, we have all the needed knowledge, skills and capacities to be permanently present in Europe," JSC Uzmetkombinat executive director Dilshod Akhmedov said.
It has received certification for rebar exports to Latvia, Lithuania and Sweden and is in the process of finalizing certification for Finland, Norway and Denmark.
Later, the company plans to enter other markets in Central Europe.
Last year, Central Asia’s leading steel plant produced 1.07 million tons of rebars and other steel products and exported 123,000 tons.
