According to the World Nuclear Association (WNA), Uzbekistan was the fifth on the list of countries producing natural uranium in 2021.
In 2021, the volume of uranium mined in Uzbekistan remained at the level of 2020 - 3,500 tons (3,445 tons in 2018).
According to Kitco, the mined uranium is exported in full to other countries.
The largest share of the total uranium produced in 2021 (45% of the total world supply) was accounted for by Kazakhstan - 19,500 tons.
The next places are occupied by Namibia (5.7 thousand tons), Canada (4.6 thousand tons) and Australia (4.1 thousand tons).
In 2021, global uranium production increased by 1% compared to 2020 and amounted to 48,300 tons.
According to WNA, the uranium produced in 2021 covered only 77 percent of global demand.
Natural uranium reserves around the world are estimated at 6.14 million tons. Australia accounts for 28 percent of it, Kazakhstan for 15 percent, and Canada for 9 percent.
In next places, Russia and Namibia own 8% and 7% of uranium reserves, respectively.
Uzbekistan ranks 11th in the world with reserves of 132,300 tons (2% of the world reserves).
