The trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Italy totalled $502.5 mn in 2023, representing a 30.3% increase compared to $385.4 mn in 2022, the Statistics Agency of Uzbekistan stated.
Trade volumes between the two nations in previous years were:
- 2021: $430.3 mn
- 2020: $348.4 mn
- 2019: $408.8 mn
From January 2019 through December 2023, the cumulative trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Italy amounted to $2 bn. Within this period, Uzbekistan's exports to Italy reached $218 mn, while imports from Italy were $1.8bn.
In 1Q24, Uzbekistan's trade turnover with Italy stood at almost $144mn, an 8.2% decline compared to $159mn recorded from the same period last year. During this timeframe, Uzbekistan's exports to Italy were $16.7mn, with imports from Italy totalling over $129mn.
Earlier, Daryo reported that Uzbekistan and Italy are collaborating on the world's largest rabbit breeding complex. Uzbek Ambassador Abat Fayzullayev met with Mauro Donda, CEO of the Italian Cattle Breeders' Association, and Sergio Pompa, President of the Italian National Rabbit Breeding Association, discussed this significant joint achievement in Lower Chirchik, Uzbekistan's Tashkent.
