A shocking incident unfolded in Frankfurt-Main, Germany, on June 10, as a 19-year-old Afghan man allegedly stabbed a 41-year-old Ukrainian woman multiple times. The victim, who had fled Ukraine due to the war, was seated in a park along the Main River when the assailant launched the vicious attack.
Eyewitnesses reported that the assailant, identified as Muhammad Zaman A., approached the woman and began stabbing her repeatedly in the head and neck with a knife. Despite her attempts to flee, the victim was unable to escape as the attacker pursued her, continuing the assault until she fell to the ground. Even then, the assailant mercilessly continued his assault on the defenseless victim.
Passersby rushed to the woman's aid, providing immediate assistance and calling for medical help. However, the attacker fled the scene, prompting a swift response from law enforcement authorities. After a brief search, the suspect was apprehended while attempting to hide in nearby bushes.
The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment. Meanwhile, Muhammad Zaman A. was taken into custody pending further investigation. The prosecutor's office has launched an inquiry into the incident, treating it as an attempted murder case.
This tragic incident follows a recent wave of violence involving individuals of Afghan origin in Germany. Just days earlier, a similar attack occurred in the city of Mannheim, where a man of Afghan descent assaulted politicians at a rally against Islam, resulting in multiple injuries and the tragic death of a police officer.
In light of these events, German authorities are reevaluating their approach to Afghan migrants, particularly those deemed to pose a security threat. Discussions have centered around the possibility of repatriating individuals who are considered a risk to public safety back to Afghanistan.
