Uzbekistan is said to introduce a one-year moratorium on the calculation and collection of fines for overdue export debts from enterprises without state ownership, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced on August 20 during an open dialogue with entrepreneurs in New Tashkent.

The president explained that global market fluctuations, regional instability, and logistical disruptions have caused delays in export revenues.
In these conditions, entrepreneurs are burdened with fines for overdue receivables, even when they are not generating income.
”In such conditions, entrepreneurs who are already not receiving payments are having to pay fines for overdue export debts,” the presidential press service noted in the statement.

Mirziyoyev emphasized that the issue has been raised by many textile producers and fruit and vegetable exporters, who have struggled with payment delays.
Responding to these concerns, he announced the moratorium as a measure to ease pressure on businesses.
The decision reflects ongoing efforts to support private sector growth in Uzbekistan by addressing challenges faced by exporters in the current economic climate.
