Over 58% of Uzbekistan’s land—amounting to 26.2mn hectares—is allocated for agriculture, according to a new report from the Cadastral Agency. The agency noted that the country's total land area spans 44.9mn hectares.

Forests make up the second-largest category within Uzbekistan’s land fund, covering 11mn hectares. An additional 4.2mn hectares are designated for nature conservation purposes, highlighting the country’s significant environmental land reserves.
Other land uses include 1.3mn hectares held in reserve, and 1mn hectares categorized as water resources. Industrial, transport, communication, and defense lands occupy 798,800 hectares, while 221,500 hectares are designated for settlements. Land of historical and cultural significance makes up a smaller portion, totaling 32,300 hectares.
As per the agency, approximately 95% of the country’s territory—42.5mn hectares—has now been electronically mapped within the Integrated Information System of Cadastre and Real Estate Registration (UZKAD). Of that, 42.1mn hectares have been registered and assigned to 1.9mn land users.
The agency also identified 366,500 land users operating on 200,000 hectares without complete legal documentation. These users have now been officially registered.
In addition, 181,700 previously undocumented objects and 2,300 additional installations were detected. These efforts led to the collection of UZS 155.8bn ($12.3mn) in taxes for the state budget.
