The International Trade Center in Termez, located near Uzbekistan's border with Afghanistan, was officially inaugurated on August 29. The Termez International Trade Center aims to enhance the business and logistics environment, reduce administrative barriers, and support entrepreneurial activities. The centre was established following a presidential decree signed three in May, outlining its purpose and regulations.
As per the decree, citizens of Afghanistan and Pakistan are granted the right to lease or, in certain cases, acquire ownership of retail outlets, service facilities, and production sites within the centre. Since May, the centre has permitted using multiple currencies for transactions, including US dollars, euros, rubles, and yuan. Additionally, a special visa-free entry corridor allows individuals to visit the centre for up to 15 days without a visa.
The event was attended by notable officials, including Uzbekistan's Prime Minister Abdullah Aripov, Afghanistan's Acting Prime Minister Abdul Ghani Barodar, Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev, Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade of Kyrgyzstan Nazarbek Malaev, and Kazakhstan's Deputy Minister of Trade and Integration Kairat Torebayev. The press service of the Government of Uzbekistan organized the ceremony.
Representatives from the diplomatic corps of Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and other countries also participated. They were given a tour of the centre to observe its operations following the official opening.
