German Enterprise for International Cooperation (GIZ) in collaboration with the Agency for Civil Service Development under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan (ARGOS), organized a conference in Tashkent focused on "Enhancing the Draft Strategy for Civil Service Development 2030 – Incorporating EU Best Practices” on August 27–28.
The event, part of the Good Governance Program implemented by GIZ in partnership with Latvia's Central Finance and Contracting Agency (CFCA) aimed to discuss the draft Strategy with input from government agencies, the public and experts. It featured participation from the Central Finance and Contracting Agency (CFCA) from Latvia, government agencies, public representatives, and experts. The conference was inaugurated by Amirtemurkhan Musaev, the First Deputy Director of ARGOS, Dr. Michael Wimmer, Deputy Head of Mission and Head of Cooperation at the German Embassy in Uzbekistan and His Excellency Reinis Trokša, the Ambassador of Latvia to Uzbekistan.
Key topics included modernizing civil service practices, enhancing the attractiveness of civil service roles and improving human resources management and development. Discussions also covered effective leadership, change management and the development and recruitment of HR resources. The event successfully facilitated a comprehensive dialogue on adapting EU best practices to Uzbekistan’s context with a focus on strategic planning, anti-corruption measures, inclusiveness and digitalization.
