The 4th World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE) is scheduled to be held in Uzbekistan's Tashkent from October 2 to 4. The event, titled "Inclusive Creativity: A Shifted Reality," will focus on the social and economic challenges posed by advancing technologies, particularly the growing influence of artificial intelligence.
Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has authorized the establishment of an organizing committee for the conference, with Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov appointed as the chairman. The Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Fund has been designated as the working body responsible for overseeing the organization and execution of the event.
The WCCE was inaugurated in 2018 in Bali, Indonesia. The conference was subsequently held in Dubai, UAE, in 2021, and returned to Bali in 2022. The forum aims to facilitate international cooperation, promote the importance of creativity in building an inclusive and sustainable economy, and support the transition from a resource-dependent economy to one driven by knowledge and innovation.
The conference will comprise a series of events, including a ministerial meeting, an exhibition focused on the creative economy, and various seminars, workshops, and presentations. These events are intended to foster discussion and collaboration among participants from different sectors.
During the forum, the opening of art residencies at the Center for Contemporary Art is expected to take place. Following the conference, the Art and Culture Development Fund, in conjunction with the Agency for Strategic Reforms, will organize discussions aimed at refining the draft law on the creative economy.
In addition, the development of the draft Concept of Development of the Creative Economy in Uzbekistan until 2030 is anticipated as a significant outcome of the conference.
