Uzbekistan's Uztekstilprom, the country's textile and garment industry association, has signed an agreement to open a representative office and an exhibition hall in Azerbaijan. The agreement was concluded during the Uzbek-Azerbaijani business forum held in Tashkent on August 22.
The business forum featured speeches by Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov and Uzbek Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade Laziz Kudratov. Minister Kudratov indicated that Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan are planning to establish trade houses and showrooms in Baku, Shusha, Tashkent, and Samarkand as part of their expanding economic engagement.
The forum also included the exchange of signed agreements aimed at fostering cooperation in sectors such as energy, education, logistics, and construction. In addition, discussions were held to enhance bilateral relations through the establishment of twinning agreements between the cities of Jizzakh (Uzbekistan) and Guba (Azerbaijan), and Shahrisabz (Uzbekistan) and Beylagan (Azerbaijan).
Earlier, it was reported that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, accompanied by his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva, arrived in Tashkent on August 22. The delegation was received at the airport by Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov.
