US businesses are increasingly exploring opportunities in Uzbekistan’s expanding market. A spokesperson from the US Department of State confirmed that US companies are actively pursuing entry into the country’s market, particularly in sectors such as agriculture, livestock, technology, and industrial equipment. The certification and review process for importing US products into Uzbekistan is an area where streamlined procedures could benefit US exporters.
US firms are also engaging in public procurement processes within Uzbekistan. They are bidding on contracts and collaborating with local partners to introduce advanced technologies and manufactured goods into the market. The spokesperson emphasized that the US remains committed to supporting Uzbekistan's economic reforms, which have contributed to an improved investment climate. These reforms are expected to attract further investment and technical expertise.
The US Department of State also noted that the US welcomes multilateral efforts to enhance regional connectivity across Central Asia and the South Caucasus, extending westward to Europe. These initiatives are seen as contributing to regional security and economic resilience. The US Agency for International Development (USAID) is involved in promoting trade, entrepreneurship, e-commerce, and private sector competitiveness across the region through its Trade Central Asia program.
Through the Partnership for Global Infrastructure, the US is evaluating potential infrastructure investment opportunities in the region. This initiative focuses on providing technical assistance, project preparation, and financing for strategic projects within the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.
Recent discussions between Uzbekistan's Deputy Minister of Transport, Jasurbek Choriev, and Acting Special Coordinator for the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment, Helaina Matza, focused on financing infrastructure projects related to the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. Key topics included the development of multimodal logistics centres, A-class warehouses in various regions of Uzbekistan, and increasing the capacity of selected railway stations.
