Kazakhstan's Ministry of Emergency Situations carried out over 42,000 operational missions in 1H24, rescuing and evacuating nearly 70,000 individuals. During this period, the country recorded more than 5,500 emergencies and incidents. Throughout the winter, approximately 4,500 storm warnings were issued. The ministry's swift actions prevented numerous road accidents and facilitated the evacuation of over 13,000 people from hazardous zones.
The country encountered widespread flooding this year, impacting 12 regions. The floods resulted in the inundation of over 11,000 residential buildings, damage to 150 road sections, and the destruction of 11 bridges. Rescuers evacuated more than 120,000 individuals, including 45,000 children. The flood response involved a substantial mobilization of resources, including at least 63,000 personnel, over 7,000 equipment units, more than 1,000 water pumping devices, 418 floating craft, and 38 civil defence aircraft.
Since the beginning of the fire hazard period, the ministry has extinguished 107 forest fires. Regional mobile groups were formed, and tactical exercises were conducted in collaboration with environmental and forestry agencies. The first half of the year saw a 15% reduction in fatalities and an 11% decrease in fire incidents.
Kazakhstan has formulated a comprehensive plan for the development of the seismological industry, set to run until 2028, to enhance seismic safety. Additionally, the country has placed significant emphasis on industrial safety, achieving a 22% reduction in industrial accidents and a 38% decrease in injury rates due to preventive measures.
