Uzbekistan’s Ruslan Abdullaev competing in the -66 kg weight category at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, has moved to the quarterfinals. Abdullayev secured his place by defeating Mexico’s Martinez Ramirez in a match decided by a unanimous decision from the judges, on July 29.
Abdullaev will next face Canadian boxer Wyatt Sanford on August 1. The outcome of this bout will determine his advancement to the semifinals.
Born in 2002 in the Kibrai district of Tashkent region, Abdullaev won the gold medal at the 2023 World Championship in Tashkent. He qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics by defeating Aleksey Sendric from Serbia in the qualification rounds.
