Uzbekistan and Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) are considering the potential establishment of a regional office in Uzbekistan to enhance collaboration and facilitate joint initiatives, as it was disclosed by presidential press service.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan welcomed Salim Al-Malik, the Director General of the ICESCO, as he arrived in the country to participate in the meeting of tourism ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Khiva on May 30.
The meeting focused on fostering constructive dialogue and enhancing collaboration with ICESCO across various sectors, including science, culture, education, and tourism.
Mr. Al-Malik expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and praised Uzbekistan's efforts in preserving and promoting its rich scientific and cultural heritage. President Mirziyoyev acknowledged the current level of mutually beneficial cooperation with ICESCO.
Uzbekistan's cities, including Tashkent, Bukhara, and Samarkand, have been recognized as capitals of Islamic culture in recent years.
