Alisher Kadyrov, leader of the Central Council of the democratic party "Milliy Tiklanish," responded to Chairman of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin's statement regarding the importance of Russian language proficiency for workers going to Russia. Kadyrov agreed with the notion that citizens working in Russia should know Russian. He also stressed the significance of Uzbek language proficiency for all citizens in Uzbekistan, stating, "We must make it impossible for a person who does not know the Uzbek language not only to work in the civil service but also to use state services," on his Telegram channel.
Kadyrov said that in addition to creating conditions for citizens of other nationalities to learn their native language in kindergarten and secondary school, the Uzbek language should be defined as compulsory in legislation.
Earlier, it was reported that Alisher Kadyrov proposed to reduce the use of the Russian language on television and in schools. The politician said that the Russian language is disproportionately used in Uzbekistan, where the Russian-speaking population does not reach 3% of the population.
