Urban planners, architects, and business leaders convened at the round-table discussion entitled "Integrated Urban Planning: Enhancing Investments, Sustainability, and Livability," hosted during the Tashkent International Investment Forum (TIIF) in Uzbekistan on May 3. The event, moderated by Sergey Riabokobylko, Group Executive Partner of Commonwealth Partnership, aimed to explore strategies for sustainable development and innovation in urban planning, with a focus on Tashkent's evolving landscape.
Vladislav Boutenko, Managing Director and Senior Partner at BCG, stressed the necessity of incorporating innovative solutions into urban planning to foster sustainable urban development. He underscored the significance of integrated planning that harmonizes economic and social considerations, ensuring a holistic approach to urban growth.
İlkay Çorgundağ, Director-Architecture of Arup, delved into the practical application of sustainable development principles in Tashkent. Drawing from Arup's expertise, he highlighted the need for environmentally conscious design practices that align with the city's aspirations for a greener future.
Manuela Gatto, Director of Zaha Hadid Architects, emphasized the pivotal role of innovative architectural designs in shaping urban environments conducive to comfort and functionality. Gatto shared insights from her portfolio, showcasing projects that seamlessly blend aesthetics with environmental sustainability, elevating the urban experience for residents.
Takhmina Turdialieva, Director of Tatalab.uz, underscored the importance of public engagement in urban planning processes. She advocated for inclusive decision-making, asserting that the active involvement of citizens fosters responsive urban spaces tailored to their needs and preferences.
Aidyn Rakhimbayev, Chairman of BI Group Holding, brought a perspective rooted in practical experience, particularly in Central Asia. Rakhimbayev discussed how strategic investments and technological advancements drive improvements in urban living standards, while also stimulating economic growth and attracting further investments to the region.
Concluding the discussions, participants unanimously agreed on the imperative of collaborative efforts and technological integration in achieving enhanced quality of life and sustainability in cities.
