To bolster the burgeoning gaming industry in Uzbekistan, the Minister of Digital Technologies, Sherzod Shermatov, and CEO of IT Park Uzbekistan, Farkhod Ibragimov, convened with Malik Khatajaev, the Head of Lesta Games group of companies, on March 28, IT Park reported. The discussions centered around potential collaborations aimed at advancing the gaming sector within the country.
Lesta Games, an international powerhouse renowned for developing and publishing hit titles such as “World of Tanks” and “World of Warships,” brought their expertise to the table as Uzbekistan seeks to further develop its gaming industry. Represented in Uzbekistan by IT Park resident East Games, Lesta Games aims to tap into the nation's talent pool and market potential.
Strides made in the Uzbek gaming sector were highlighted. Export figures for gaming products from IT Park residents surged to $49mn by the end of 2023, marking a 3.7-fold increase compared to 2022. These statistics underscore the growing importance of the gaming industry in Uzbekistan's economy.
Discussions also revolved around incentive programs tailored for IT and outsourcing companies, showcasing Uzbekistan's commitment to fostering a conducive environment for international businesses. The country's rich human resources and other advantages were emphasized as key factors contributing to its attractiveness as a global IT hub.
As part of the meeting agenda, attendees visited "UZINFOCOM," the Single Integrator for the creation and support of state information systems, which plays a vital role in providing access to governmental resources and administering the .UZ domain zone.
Representatives from Lesta Games presented proposals aimed at attracting foreign enterprises to Uzbekistan, enhancing the skills of local specialists, and further boosting IT service exports. Such collaborations promise not only economic growth but also the creation of new job opportunities and the elevation of Uzbekistan's profile on the international stage within the gaming industry.
