Tajikistan's President Emomali Rahmon has issued a directive urging judges and civil servants to attain proficiency in at least two foreign languages, Asia-Plus reports.
Decree Details and Presidential Meeting
On February 12, President Emomali Rahmon signed a decree concerning the appointment and release of judges across all regions of Tajikistan. During the same day, he convened a meeting with newly appointed personnel, focusing on various aspects, including enhancing professional skills, grasping national laws, understanding international legal norms, and language proficiency.
Language Proficiency Requirements
President Rahmon emphasized the importance of language proficiency, stating that every civil servant should possess a high level of proficiency in the national language and at least two foreign languages.
"In this regard, it was ordered to give one year to the employees of the justice system and all civil servants to learn foreign languages in depth, and to take necessary measures against them if these requirements are not met," the message reads.
Alongside the language mandate, President Rahmon issued directives aimed at expediting the processing of criminal cases, addressing residents' applications and complaints promptly, and upholding law and order to maintain the rule of law.
President's Call for Integrity and Service
President Rahmon concluded the meeting with a call for conscientiousness, honesty, and courtesy among civil servants, emphasizing that honor and respect are earned through impartial service to the people.
"Be conscientious and honest, be courteous, because in society a person can gain honor and respect only by serving the people impartially," says Emomali Rahmon.
