Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Muzaffar Madrakhimov, recently engaged in a meeting with Ashina Khalakdina, the head of the World Health Organization's (WHO) country office in Uzbekistan, the ministry's press service reports.
The discussions centered on the key areas of collaboration between Uzbekistan and WHO, underlining the significance of maintaining strong ties to implement the focal points of Uzbekistan's 2030 Strategy.
A notable aspect of the conversation was the emphasis on enhancing cooperation to broaden project initiatives aimed at the development of the Aral Sea region.
As previously reported, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, during the UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) in the United Arab Emirates, put forth several initiatives to address climate change. Foremost among them was Uzbekistan's advocacy for the swift approval of the Global Framework for Adaptation to Climate Change within the context of the Paris Agreement.
Earlier, The Uzbekistan National News Agency (UzA) has released a report detailing suicide statistics in the country, based on research conducted by the World Health Organization. The data reveals that nearly half (45%) of suicides in Uzbekistan are committed by individuals suffering from mental disabilities or of a nervous disposition.
