The Chamber of Commerce and Industry has introduced a draft regulation for public discussion, outlining the procedures for the allocation of small grants dedicated to projects promoting the advancement of the green economy, governmental regulation portal reports.
These grants are intended for non-state educational institutions engaging in activities aimed at fostering awareness and understanding of green growth. Such activities encompass organizing conferences and seminars centered around the topic of sustainable and environmentally friendly practices.
Participation in the program is also open to consulting firms specializing in services related to the development of "green" businesses. Furthermore, grants can be sought for initiatives targeting entrepreneurs in regions with lower levels of "green" economy development.
The maximum grant amount is set at UZS 100mn ($8,080), with the allocation of funds overseen by a specialized unit within the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The chamber will collaboratively determine the annual number of grants and their specific amounts with the Ministry of Economic Finance and the Fund for Support of Non-Governmental Non-Profit Organizations. The topics and schedules for fund disbursement competitions will be mutually agreed upon.
To apply for a grant, interested parties must submit an application to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, detailing project information and its key performance indicators. Alongside the application, a copy of the institution's charter and, if applicable, a license, along with a cover letter, must be provided.
Applicants with debts in the Public Fund or those who fail to promptly address the CCI's instructions to rectify deficiencies will be disqualified from participation.
Projects meeting the eligibility criteria will be submitted to the Presidential Council for Entrepreneurship Support for evaluation. Within one month, the council will assess applications and identify projects aligning best with competition criteria.
Upon the council's decision, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry will be required to finalize an agreement with the winning party within 15 working days. The awarded funds must be transferred to the recipient's account within 10 business days post-signing.
The draft regulation is open for public discussion on the portal for discussing draft regulatory legal acts until December 30.
