Azerbaijani Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov met with President Serdar Berdimuhamedov during his working visit to Turkmenistan. "...Explored opportunities to reinforce relations across all sectors," the official wrote in the X social network.
Jabbarov arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the work of the Turkmen-Azerbaijani business forum and the meeting of the intergovernmental commission.
The minister noted that in January-October 2023, mutual trade between the two countries grew by more than 88% year-on-year, which is almost a tenfold increase over the past two years.
"...We encouraged businesses from both nations to sustain this positive trend, evaluate mutual investment projects."
The parties discussed prospects for cooperation in various sectors, including industry, trade, SMEs, energy, transport and agriculture.
Experts told Daryo that Azerbaijan has been importing Turkmen gas since 2022, thanks to a trilateral swap agreement with Iran.
Baku and Ashgabat are also discussing projects to develop international transport corridors such as Lapis Lazuli (Afghanistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey) and Caspian-Black Sea.
