In a significant meeting at the Presidential Palace in Nur-Sultan, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Minister of Internal Affairs Yerzhan Sadenov to discuss a range of crucial issues related to public safety and law enforcement. President Tokayev was briefed on the comprehensive measures undertaken by the Ministry of Internal Affairs to curb various forms of criminal activities, including murders, hooliganism, thefts, robberies, and cattle thefts across the country. These efforts have resulted in a notable reduction in crime rates, contributing to an increased sense of safety on the streets.

Minister Sadenov emphasized the commitment to "zero tolerance" for offenses and the assurance of swift and just punishment. Protection of the rights of minors and combating internet fraud were also highlighted during the discussion.

One of the remarkable achievements highlighted by Minister Sadenov was the blocking of 37 mn calls from spoofed numbers since the beginning of the year, an action taken to combat phone scams and fraud. Additionally, the authorities have identified and taken action against 16,000 websites hosting illegal content, reinforcing the government's commitment to tackling online criminal activities.

Another significant aspect discussed during the meeting was the implementation of the Comprehensive Plan to Combat Drug Addiction and Drug Trafficking for the years 2023-2025. Minister Sadenov reported that the police had successfully seized more than 31 tons of drugs and 79 tons of precursors, while also shutting down 39 drug laboratories. These actions are seen as crucial steps in addressing the pressing issue of drug-related crimes and addiction in the country.

President Tokayev also received an update on the state of affairs within the penal system and the National Guard, ensuring that these institutions are functioning efficiently to maintain law and order in the nation.

Following the comprehensive discussion, President Tokayev issued a series of instructions aimed at further enhancing the level of law and order and public safety in Kazakhstan. These directives underpin the government's unwavering commitment to creating a secure environment for its citizens and promoting a just and lawful society.
