Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to embark on a diplomatic mission to Kyrgyzstan on October 15, as confirmed by Dmitry Peskov, the spokesman for the president of Russia. This visit will also include a significant bilateral meeting between President Putin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, taking place in the capital city of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, as per a report by RIA Novosti.
The announcement of this visit comes on the heels of a telephone conversation between President Putin and President Lukashenko. Following their discussion, President Lukashenko announced plans for their face-to-face meeting in Kyrgyzstan.
Dmitry Peskov, while confirming the visit, stated;
"We can confirm that the president is planning such a trip, and a meeting is planned there."
He further shed light on the frequent communication between the two leaders.
"We have repeatedly reported that Putin and Lukashenko often speak on the phone, and not every time we give the corresponding message; the presidents' contacts are used to coordinate positions on current issues. The agenda, as you see, is developing more than dynamically, so every time the agenda of such contacts is full."
The upcoming visit carries significant geopolitical importance, given the close ties between Russia and Belarus, and Kyrgyzstan's location as a key player in Central Asia. The leaders are expected to discuss a wide range of issues, including economic cooperation, regional security, and political developments in the region.
While specific details of the agenda have not been disclosed, the meeting is anticipated to shape the course of regional diplomacy and have a lasting impact on the Central Asian geopolitical landscape. It is expected that both leaders will address the press following their discussions to provide insights into the outcomes of their meeting.
