The leader of the Wagner private military company has shared a new video message, reportedly from Africa, following the failed coup attempt, Euronews has reported.
Evgeny Prigozhin claims to be in Africa to "make Russia even greater across all continents, and Africa even more free."
He stated that the Wagner PMC is conducting reconnaissance activities, aiming to enhance Russia's influence globally and promote freedom in Africa, countering groups like ISIS and Al-Qaeda.
Prigozhin mentioned that the company is continuing its tasks and recruiting new fighters. In February, he announced plans to shift Wagner's focus to Africa once its services are no longer needed in Ukraine.
After the coup attempt, Prigozhin and some Wagner fighters initially headed to Belarus, but later reports revealed his presence in Moscow and his attendance at the Russia-Africa Summit in St. Petersburg.
