Hollywood actress Sandra Bullock's partner, Bryan Randall, passed away at the age of 58 due to a prolonged battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
ALS is a rare and incurable disorder.
Family members released a statement, saying,
"With deep sadness, we announce that on August 5th, Bryan Randall peacefully passed away after a three-year fight with ALS. Bryan chose to keep this private, and those of us who cared for him did everything we could to honor that."
Randall's family also expressed gratitude to the medical professionals who supported his fight against the illness and requested privacy during this time.
As of now, Sandra Bullock has not commented on the passing of her beloved partner.
The couple met in 2015 when Randall was photographing the birthday of Bullock's son, Louis. They made their first public appearance together later that year at Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux's wedding. Although not officially registered, Randall and Bullock never married.
The Academy Award-winning actress explained:
"I know what a divorce is. And I found my life partner. We have a beautiful family, no, three - Bryan has a daughter. And nothing could be better. I don't need a piece of paper to be a devoted partner and a caring mom. I don't need reminders to be there in tough times."
Hailing from Portland, Oregon, Randall was a professional photographer who founded Bryan Randall Photography, specializing in portrait and outdoor photography. Prior to that, he had a successful modeling career, collaborating with well-known brands like Yves Saint Laurent and Hugo Boss, and featuring in elite magazines such as Vogue Paris and Harper's Bazaar Singapore.
ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, affects the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, leading to muscle degeneration and eventual paralysis. There is currently no cure for this rare condition.
