As of July 1, 2023, Uzbekistan's total resident population reached 36.3mn, a 2.2% increase compared to the same period in 2022.
In particular, the Central Asian country registered a total of 36,372,300 individuals, with 18,066,000 women and 18,306,300 - men.
The population was distributed between urban and rural areas, with 18,557,500 residing in urban areas and 17,815,800 in rural areas.
To provide a perspective on the Central Asian region, the population of Kazakhstan is 19.6mn, Tajikistan is 10.1mn, Kyrgyzstan is 6.7mn, and Turkmenistan is 6.5mn.
Reportedly, Central Asia makes up only 0.97% of the world's population. It's ranked fifth in terms of population among subregions in Asia. The population density is 20 people per square kilometer (52 people per square mile) and the total land area is 3,926,790 square kilometers (1,516,141 square miles). Interestingly, none of the population is considered urban as of 2023.
