170 employees of the Russian Federation Council were charged in absentia for allegedly "violating the territorial integrity" of Ukraine, Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) reports.
The SSU indicted all Russian parliamentarians who supported Russia's acquisition of the disputed territories. The accusation centered on a vote in the Russian Federation's Council to ratify the agreements for the integration of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), Luhansk People's Republic (LPR), Kherson, and Zaporizhia territories into Russia.
The SSU saw this action as an assault on the sovereignty of Ukraine. If proven guilty, Russian lawmakers could receive up to 15 years in jail according to Ukrainian legislation.
