Uzbekistan, ACWA Power discuss expanding cooperation across energy, healthcare and digital projects

Discussions took place in Samarkand between representatives of Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabian company ACWA Power on May 4, on the sidelines of the 59th Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank’s Board of Governors, focusing on the development of ongoing cooperation and expansion of joint investment projects.
The Uzbek delegation was led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov. The meeting also included ACWA Power Chairman Muhammad Abunayyan, Vision Invest President and CEO Omar Al-Midani, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Ilhomjon Umrzakov, and other officials.
The discussions covered the current status of joint initiatives and prospects for further development of cooperation. Both sides reviewed the progress of ongoing projects and considered opportunities to expand collaboration into new sectors.
A key area of focus was public-private partnership projects. These include the construction of a multidisciplinary hospital in Fergana as part of healthcare infrastructure development. The parties also discussed transport sector cooperation, including the implementation of the New Tashkent International Airport project.
Energy cooperation was another central topic, particularly projects related to renewable and green energy development. The parties reviewed existing initiatives and explored potential expansion in this area.
In addition, the meeting included discussions on macroeconomic developments in Uzbekistan and the implementation of new projects in digital development, communications, and information technology.
At the conclusion of the talks, both sides confirmed their intention to continue cooperation and expand the scope of joint investment projects in mutually agreed areas.
