QS World University Rankings international rating agency announced the results of the 2023 Subject Rankings of world universities. Two universities in Uzbekistan were included in the rating, Ministry of Higher Education reports.
National University of Uzbekistan and the "Tashkent Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers" National Research University made the list of the Top500 higher education institutions across 4 disciplines (modern languages, mathematics, physics and astronomy, environment).
This marks the first time universities of Uzbekistan took part in the rating by subjects. "Tashkent Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers" National Research University ranked 451-500 in "Engineering and Technology" and 501-520 in "Natural Sciences" fields.
For reference, the National University of Uzbekistan was ranked 451-500 in the field of "Mathematics" in the 2022 ranking, but this year it rose by 100 places in this direction.
QS World University Rankings by Subject is a survey of the world's universities in 51 fields of science among employers and the international scientific community.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has previously signed a resolution confirming the concept of the development of the higher education system until 2030. According to the document, it is planned to turn the National University of Uzbekistan and the Samarkand State University into advanced universities and improve education quality to those of Top500 best universities in the world.
