A unique jar of a Seleucid commander was found in the Buka district of Tashkent region, the press service of the Academy of Sciences informed.
2 egg-shaped jars and 2 medieval archaeological monuments of the Tashkent oasis were found in the Buka district.
Among them, a rounded jug with a woman's figure embossed on its surface is the most unique. Such a vessel was found for the first time in the Tashkent region. It was made relying on the ancient Greek tradition.
These findings might be related to the arrival of Seleucid commander Demodam (III century BC) in the ancient Choch-Tashkent region. The image of the Greek goddess is reflected in the vessel. A similar image is found in the Temple of Apollo, built in Turkey in the 2nd century BC.
Earlier, it was reported that a clay pot belonging to the I-II centuries AD was found in the Denov district of the Surkhandarya region. To properly examine the historical significance of the pot, it was completely excavated by historians of the Termez Archaeological Museum and Termez State University and taken to the Termez Archaeological Museum for restoration and study.
