Kazakhstan's surveillance cameras are aimed at strengthening crime detection in Uzbekistan. A total of 25 public and road safety devices were installed in Namangan, the second most populous city of Uzbekistan, Daryo reports from Kazakhstan.
Sergek’s work in Namangan aims to reduce traffic accidents and improve the driving culture. The intelligent system is certified according to the legislation of Uzbekistan. 25 hardware and software systems record violations of traffic rules in 13 sections of the city and districts of the region. In addition, ‘Sergek’ will also strengthen the detection of criminal offenses, the press service of KazakhExport explained.
The Sergek system was developed by the Kazakhstan-based Sergek Group and implemented through private investment subsidized by the state export program. JSC KazakhExport helped with crediting the project, which was launched with the support of Kazakhstan's Ministry of Trade and Integration and the Ministry of Digital Development and Aerospace Industry.
Today, the surveillance system operates in eight cities in Kazakhstan, including Astana, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Almaty, Atyrau, Shymkent, Semey, Taraz, and Turkestan.
Reportedly, the system helped reduce the number of casualties in road accidents in Astana almost two-fold (2022), from 60 to 34, from 161 to 96 in Almaty (2019-2022), and from 76 to 57 (2020-2022) in Shymkent.
