A delegation chaired by the Vice-Chancellor of Uzbekistan's University of World Economy and Diplomacy Gulnoza Ismailova visited the UK to partake in a round table at Cambridge University, Dunyo reports. The event was organized jointly with Cambridge Central Asia Forum and the Uzbek Embassy in London.
The Uzbek delegation unveiled the republic's plans to liberalize the economy, further strengthen political, trade, economic and cultural relations with neighboring countries, and assist Afghanistan in its integration into the world community. Besides, it emphasized the huge potential of Uzbek-British cooperation in the fields of scientific research and education.
The representatives of Cambridge University emphasized that human capital is of special importance in ensuring long-term socio-economic development. Appreciation was also expressed for the groundwork to conduct duty journeys of researchers to institutions in foreign counties.
Director of the Cambridge Central Asia Forum Siddharth Saxena recognized the important role of Uzbekistan in the Central Asian region due to the country's openness and the ongoing political and economic reforms that strengthen cooperation among the Central Asian states.
Founded in 1209, Cambridge is the world's third-oldest surviving university.
