January 6. Bishkek. The Energy Ministers of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan signed a “road map” for the implementation of the project “Construction of the hydropower plant - Kambarata HPP-1”. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan.
The Central Asian energy officials agreed on the main conditions for the implementation of the project and outlined the upcoming steps for the timely commissioning of the power plant.
“Kambarata HPP-1 should become the largest power plant in Kyrgyzstan which can provide electricity to the countries of Central Asia and stabilize the water supply of the region,” the report says.
The parties emphasized that the implementation of the project should be fair and beneficial for all participating countries.
The capacity of the future HPP will be 1860 MW. The HPP reservoir will have a volume of 5.4 billion cubic meters. The station will annually produce an average of 5.6 billion kWh of electricity.
