A businessman from the Bukhara region is testing to grow the Amaranth plant in Uzbekistan. Although the name is unfamiliar in Central Asia, the healing properties of the amaranth plant are known in medicine.
This plant, originally grown in America, Europe, Africa, Asia and some regions of Russia, is also being planted in Uzbekistan as a test, the ministry said.
An entrepreneur living in the village of Kalaychorbog, Romitan district, Bukhara region, has learnt a lot about the benefits of this plant and grows it on 20 hectares of land.
In addition, it is said that the amaranth planted in a test manner has adapted to the soil and climate conditions of the region and is giving the expected result.
Planting amaranth creates an opportunity to grow expensive medicinal products in Uzbekistan at a low price, which enriches the agricultural sector and opens new directions in the agricultural and pharmaceutical fields, and most importantly, increases the natural fertility of the soil. - says the Ministry of Agriculture.
During the season, amaranth is watered 3-4 times and fed with 90-100 kg of nitrogen, 70 kg of phosphorus, and 50 kg of potassium per hectare.
