President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Vagit Alekperov, shareholder of LUKOIL, to discuss ongoing and future joint projects in Kazakhstan’s energy sector. Alekperov briefed the president on the company’s operations and outlined its plans for the near future.
During the meeting, both sides identified key areas of cooperation and discussed initiatives of mutual interest. Tokayev noted that partnerships with major companies like LUKOIL contribute to the modernization of Kazakhstan’s energy sector and economic development.
LUKOIL is one of the world’s largest vertically integrated oil and gas companies, accounting for approximately 2% of global oil production and about 1% of proven hydrocarbon reserves.
This meeting follows previous discussions between Tokayev and Alekperov, including one held in early 2022.
