Uzbekistan and Vietnam have taken a step forward in strengthening their bilateral ties by signing several key agreements. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministries of Health of both countries, reflecting a shared commitment to enhancing healthcare cooperation.

Additionally, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and Vietnam formalized a Cooperation Program for 2025-2026, designed to deepen their relationship through concrete actions, such as organizing business forums, establishing trade houses, and enhancing direct flight connections between the two nations.
A Plan of Practical Measures for Advancing Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Vietnam for the same period was also put in place.
These agreements were signed during a roundtable discussion held in Tashkent, which was attended by high-ranking officials, including Jamshid Khodjaev, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, and Tran Hong Ha, Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam. Leaders from several prominent Vietnamese companies, such as Petrovietnam, Vinachem, Sovico, Vietnam Airlines, Vinafood, Vietravel, Perseus, and Delion, were also present.

The roundtable focused on expanding bilateral cooperation in a range of sectors, including energy, oil and gas, the chemical industry, agriculture, healthcare, digitalization, tourism, and pharmaceuticals. Both sides expressed a strong desire to foster joint projects, establish new business ventures, and improve trade volumes, as well as increase the number of direct flights between the countries.
Vietnamese companies such as Petrovietnam, Sovico, and Delion have shown interest in energy, aviation, food production, and digital transformation projects in Uzbekistan. The agreements aim to unlock new opportunities for collaboration, building on the growing Uzbek-Vietnamese dialogue and economic potential.
Earlier, Uzbekistan and Vietnam have also agreed on a new Plan of Practical Actions to Advance Trade and Economic Cooperation for 2025–2026.
Vietnam's investment in Uzbekistan, amounting to more than $4.4mn across five projects, highlights the strength of their growing partnership. Since 2021, economic and trade relations have seen an annual increase of nearly 25%, with trade surpassing $200mn in 2024. The introduction of direct flights has boosted tourism, with over 20,000 Uzbek nationals visiting Vietnam last year.
