A high-level meeting in Ashgabat marked the launch of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor Coordination platform on October 3. The platform aims to enhance regional connectivity, strengthen economic ties, and promote investment in vital infrastructure.
The event saw participation from notable figures such as EU Commissioner for International Cooperation Jutta Urpilainen and Henrik Holloway, Advisor to the European Commission on International Cooperation.
Officials from Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Armenia, and Georgia attended, alongside representatives from leading financial institutions like the Asian Development Bank, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, European Investment Bank, Islamic Development Bank, and the World Bank.
The meeting stressed the pivotal role of transport infrastructure in driving economic growth across Central Asia. The new platform is expected to boost the resilience of the Trans-Caspian transport corridor, transforming it into a multimodal route that connects Europe and Asia. This initiative will also encourage investments in railways, roads, and port infrastructure, further strengthening economic cooperation between Europe and Central Asia.
A key focus of the platform will be fostering technological innovation in the transport sector to enhance efficiency and stability across the corridor. By working together, member countries and institutions aim to create a safer, more sustainable transport network that boosts regional development and connectivity.
