The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan expressed deep concern over the rapidly escalating situation in the Middle East, on October 3. In an official statement, the Foreign Ministry highlighted the potential dangers posed by the intensifying conflict, warning that further escalation could result in unprecedented security risks and have far-reaching consequences for the international community.
The ministry urged all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint and avoid actions that could further aggravate tensions in the region. It emphasized the importance of preventing a full-scale conflict and stressed that a peaceful resolution must be sought in accordance with international laws and United Nations Security Council resolutions.
“We believe that further escalation can lead to an unprecedented increase in risks and threats to security in a vast region with unpredictable consequences for the entire international community. We urge the opposing sides to show restraint and refrain from actions that could lead to further escalation of tensions,” MFA’s statement noted.
The statement stresses Uzbekistan's commitment to diplomatic solutions and the need for urgent efforts to de-escalate the conflict. As tensions continue to rise, Uzbekistan reiterated the call for a peaceful settlement to ensure regional stability.
The situation in the Middle East reached a critical point after Iran launched a missile strike on Israel in retaliation for Israeli attacks that killed top Hezbollah leaders in Lebanon. Nearly 200 missiles were fired, leading to widespread alarms across Israel, though no casualties were reported. The attack has led to a spike in global oil prices and increased international concern about the potential for a wider conflict.
In light of the escalating situation, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the escalating violence, calling for an immediate ceasefire. He expressed concern over the situation in Lebanon, where over a thousand individuals have been killed, and one million displaced due to intense Israeli airstrikes. As the violence continues, the situation remains tense, highlighting the urgent need for dialogue and peaceful resolution.
The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Israel has issued safety precautions for its citizens, advising them to remain vigilant in light of the deteriorating security conditions.
