Kyrgyzstan significantly expanded its gasoline exports to Afghanistan and Uzbekistan in 1H24, according to a report by the analytical company Argus. The increase in exports is linked to higher fuel production at local mini-refineries.
Between January and June 2024, Kyrgyzstan exported 5,800 tons of gasoline, more than double the 2,600 tons exported in the same period of 2023. The exported gasoline mainly consisted of AI-80 and AI-92 grades, with Afghanistan and Uzbekistan being the primary destinations.
Kyrgyzstan’s gasoline exports to Afghanistan surged to 3,700 tons in 1H24, up from 500 tons during the same period last year. The main buyers were retail network operators in the northern and central regions of Afghanistan, according to traders.
Gasoline exports to Uzbekistan saw a slight increase, reaching 2,100 tons, compared to 2,000 tons during 1H23. Retail network operators in Uzbekistan's Fergana and Tashkent regions are reportedly showing more interest in Kyrgyz fuel, as noted by Argus.
