Kazakhstan plans to increase its exports to Tajikistan by approximately $200mn, covering 85 different product categories. This announcement was made by Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during a joint press conference with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon.
During the press conference, President Tokayev highlighted the agreement to expand the range of goods traded between the two countries. Both leaders committed to systematically removing obstacles that currently hinder trade and economic cooperation, with a particular focus on enhancing the transport and logistics sectors.
The governments of Kazakhstan and Tajikistan have been tasked with accelerating the finalization of a roadmap aimed at boosting trade turnover by 2027.
President Tokayev also addressed the long-term goal of increasing mutual trade volumes to $2bn. He noted the considerable potential for growth in the agro-industrial sector, citing a 12% increase in agricultural trade between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan in 1H24, which has reached nearly $300mn.
